Uganda is once again in a period of anticipation as candidates, parents and schools await the release of the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education UCE and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education UACE results.
The results will be officially released by the Uganda National Examinations Board at State House Nakasero, where the Minister for Education and Sports and the UNEB officials will announce the national performance and key highlights.
Thousands of candidates across the country sat for the UCE and UACE examinations, marking an important milestone in Ugandaβs education calendar. For many learners, these results determine progression to A’Level, university, tertiary institutions or other career pathways.
How to Check UCE and UACE Results
Checking Results via SMS
This remains the fastest and most accessible method for candidates and parents.
Step 1: Open the messaging app on your mobile phone.
Step 2: Type UCE or UACE, followed by a space, then your full index number.
Example: UCE 004321/067 or UACE 001245/089
Step 3: Send the message to 6600.
Each SMS is charged UGX 500. Ensure you have sufficient airtime before sending. The reply message will display your grades for each subject.
Checking Results via Online Platform
The UNEB online results system is mainly accessed by schools.
Step 1: School administrators log into the UNEB eResults portal using official credentials.
Step 2: Select UCE or UACE results and download candidate performance reports.
Parents and candidates are advised to follow guidance issued by schools and UNEB on accessing official result slips.
A Key Moment in the Competence Based Curriculum
This release is especially significant because it represents the second national assessment under Ugandaβs competence based curriculum at lower secondary level.
Unlike the previous content heavy approach, the competence based curriculum focuses on practical skills, critical thinking, creativity and real world application of knowledge. The results are expected to provide deeper insight into how learners are adapting to this new system and how schools are implementing learner centered teaching.
Education stakeholders will closely study subject performance trends, grading patterns and learner competencies to assess progress and identify areas that need improvement as the country continues the curriculum transition.
Important Tips for Candidates and Parents
- Always confirm the index number before sending the SMS.
- Use only official UNEB channels and trusted media platforms for updates.
- Avoid unofficial websites that request payment to access results.
- Contact your school for clarification if there are delays or discrepancies.
While examination results are important, they are only one step in a learnerβs journey. Whether progressing to A Level, university, technical training or entrepreneurship, many pathways remain open.
