New era of connectivity as MTN launches 5G
MTN which is one of the leading telecom companies in Uganda has rolled out 5G network services, becoming the first to roll it out in the country.
The 5th generation mobile network is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks that enables a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and devices.
5G wireless technology is meant to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity, increased availability, and a more uniform user experience to more users. Higher performance and improved efficiency empower new user experiences and connects new industries.

“We are incredibly proud to be the first to be live with a 5G network in Uganda, and we firmly believe that this cutting-edge network service will play a pivotal role in driving ICT solutions for economic growth and fostering unparalleled digital experiences for all Ugandans”
At is at the media briefing that users were alerted that they were to start seeing the 5G icon on their phones.
